I can say my experience has been similar to Dr. Julia's experience in only two ways that is we all come from South Sudan, and a country which is still being affected by civil war in most of the regions and also the culture and the living style in Indiana is absolutely different. Mostly my experience at Indiana is different to Dr. Julia experiences because l came as student to gain knowledge and take it back home, as for Dr. Julia she came as refugee with her family to settle in the United States particularly Indiana State and by Sudan was in the brick of war.
I'm glad to hear about your experience. Joy, the time you will see meaning in diversity, you will like it more although it's a process. Do you know about the steps involved in the process?
ReplyDeleteVery insightful and thank you for sharing your beliefs about the differences in your experiences! I apologize for my delayed response. I had terrible computer issues that limited my access to your blogs! (I was trying to read and respond on my phone and that was difficult!)
ReplyDeleteOver the past few weeks how has your perception changes? Do you feel more settled in both the local community and in your studies?
